PROJECTAerial graphic display for BAFTA event, Selfridges
The brief
We were asked to design a suspension system for a 23m tall graphic display to promote Lancôme’s BAFTA event at Selfridges.
The work
Lancôme is the official make-up partner to the BAFTAs. To celebrate this, and to promote Lancôme’s BAFTA cosmetic collection, an event was to be held at Selfridges, featuring Lancôme’s Artistic Director, Aaron De Mey.
Just one week prior to the event, Lancôme negotiated with Selfridges to hang a 23 metre high graphic display in the central atrium. This display was configured of 28 separate rigid graphics measuring 1960mm x 1200mm. Health & safety was a primary concern, as the display was to be suspended over a café!
Working closely with a specialist rigging company and Selfridges’ in-house display team, we designed a metal frame and suspension system that met all approvals. Production was finished within one week, and installation was completed in one night whilst the store was closed.
The results
The event was considered an enormous success, and the aerial display itself was highly visible from Lancôme’s permanent and temporary promotional sites, creating great visual impact for customers using the escalators.
In fact, Selfridges granted Lancôme permission to keep the display in situ for a further three weeks after the main event.
